How we chose the ten
We picked kinds of strange sightings and events that people often ask about, where there are good official or scientific sources to check them against. UFOs and the Bermuda Triangle come first.
Reported, then checked
Every case on every site follows the same rule: first what was reported and who reported it, then what the evidence says, with a link to each source. We don’t claim more than the evidence does, in either direction.
Sightings, not legends
Myths, legends and old stories belong to our sister hub folklore.im. unexplained.im covers reported sightings and events.
Our own drawings
We draw our own pictures and don’t use other people’s photographs. Our drawings are labelled as impressions, never as evidence.
Independent, not official
unexplained.im is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any of the organisations whose reports we quote.
How the network works
The list of sites lives in network.json. This page and sitemap-index.xml are built from it, and only open sites go into the sitemap index. Each case site will have a link back here at the top of every page.
